Mayfield School is a leading Catholic independent school for girls aged 11 to 18. The school is rightly proud of its reputation for excellent academic results, plentiful extra-curricular activities and exemplary pastoral care, but above all else, Mayfield prides itself on being a happy school.
Caroline Barry, Director IT Systems, explains why the school decided to introduce SIMS: “We used to have many different database systems with no real cohesion between any of them. We needed one central source of information we could rely on, and SIMS was the answer. From established to new staff, everyone who uses SIMS is always positive – they can see how it adds value, both in terms of our academic performance and supporting us in providing the very best in pastoral care.”
Mayfield enjoys outstanding examination success, with A level grades surpassing the previous years’ results for three years running. Caroline believes SIMS plays an important role in helping the school to achieve this: “With SIMS, we have a central source of information on every girl’s progress, making it quickly apparent where achievement is falling behind, as well as where there is very high achievement.”
The school recently altered the hours of the school working day and Caroline was impressed with the support provided: “We received excellent support from the SIMS Independent helpdesk - our new timetable works well and looks fantastic. We’re proud of offering a huge variety of subjects and SIMS enables us to juggle this complex curriculum, offering the flexibility we need to allow for various permutations in the timetable, including running a carousel curriculum, rotating subjects and groups throughout each term.”
Caroline summarises how SIMS helps Mayfield School: “From our Bursar and Director of Marketing to our Headmistress, the school office, our Housemistresses and all our teachers, everybody uses SIMS to support their role in some way. SIMS is at the core of our operations.”
