We're thrilled to announce that Capita’s cutting edge software, SIMS Discover, has won a prestigious Education Resources Award (ERA) 2012 in the Innovation category.
The accolade, presented on Friday 16 March at The National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham, recognises that SIMS Discover is a software tool which is ahead of current thinking and adds great value to teaching and learning.
The ERA panel of judges comprising teachers and education specialists reported that they “were impressed by this application that allows non-specialists to interrogate [pupil] data in a user-friendly way."
They went on to say: "We thought it was new and exciting. It is an intuitive management tool that allows anyone to grab, touch, feel and understand trends in data. The ability to further interrogate the data is also available.”
The development of SIMS Discover has enabled teachers and school leaders to take their interaction with pupil information to the next level so they can ensure their pupils are achieving their very best.
With SIMS Discover, school leaders and teachers can select which data they wish to analyse and drop these data palettes into the colour graph of their choice. They may want to look at which pupils are forecast to get 8 or more A* to A grades, for example. With SIMS Discover, graphs can be created quickly and easily, helping schools spot patterns, such as a pupil who might benefit from additional maths tuition. This will help all subjects and departments reach their peak performance.
SIMS Discover can also be set up to alert staff automatically to changes to groups they are interested in, perhaps for a certain number of achievement points: pupils joining; pupils leaving; or the group memberships hitting a set number. They can then address issues or provide encouragement to help raise their pupils’ achievement in school.
